Reiki
Is a form of Japanese energy healing. It uses the healer as a conduit to relay warm, loving, reassuring life force (the unnamed thing that makes you alive, your soul, etc.) energy to the client. The primary principle in Reiki is it can do no harm. It is non-invasive however usually has powerful physical and mental effects.
Grief
Grieving is about finding a way to live with a reality that we don’t want, breaking our sense of control over life. Doing that alone, is hard. Loss of oneself to a chronic illness, loss of a relationship, or of a loved one, at the root they are all the same uncomfortable, world-stopping grief. Reiki is a wonderful treatment for grief, trauma, PTSD and even some physical ailments.
Usual Outcomes
Most people feel a significant change whether physical or mental. Some experience an incredibly deep sleep following their session while others experience a sense of peace in the following days. It is not uncommon to feel tingling, warmth or have memories pass through your mind. Check out some of my reviews here. Now for the research –
According to a review of randomized trials, reiki may help to reduce pain, anxiety and fatigue. Studies performed on cancer patients and pregnant women showed similar results. It has also been shown over and over to treat depression. I attribute my own reduction in chronic migraine to one session.
Reiki & Religion
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not, nor is it derived from a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to experience it. It is not witchcraft. Many practitioners of Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, Islam, Shintoism, and Buddhism embrace it for spiritual healing. Both Reiki and spirituality focus on self-care. One way to think of Reiki is as a spiritual practice that complements any particular faith to promote physical and emotional healing.
Session
I begin with a phone consultation to understand where you are and to set an intention. I come to you. We choose a quiet place, gentle music plays in the background. The lights are dimmed, you lay on a massage table fully clothed under a blanket. I begin to direct energy from head to toes with specific traditional hand positions for extended periods. The session is one hour. The experience can include relaxing releases of energy. Many people describe this as similar to spiritual meditation. The most common feelings are health, peacefulness, calm, tingling, and coolness.
I also work out of Float Clarkston.
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another
